In addition to his duties as medical director of Culicchia Neurological Clinic, Frank Culicchia, M.D. can add Clinical Professor and Chairman of Neurosurgery of LSU's Health Sciences Center at New Orleans to his resume.
Culicchia is accustomed to holding many positions in the local neurosurgery field. He is a former chairman of surgery at West Jefferson Medical Center and a Clinical Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery at Tulane Medical school.
Dr. Culicchia will continue to evaluate and treat patients at West Jefferson Medical Center and his additional duties will involve overseeing LSU neurosurgery residents. "It is a great honor to have been selected as LSU's new Neurosurgery Chairman," Dr. Culicchia stated. "I am excited about playing a role in the rebuilding of our city's medical care and mentoring young neurosurgeons along the way."
Dr. Culicchia was instrumental in West Jefferson Hospital's recent acquisition of the CyberKnife Radiosurgery System, a key component of the hospital's new Neurosciences Institute. Under his leadership, Culicchia Neurological Clinic has expanded significantly, offering many neurological specialties that are unavailable elsewhere in the region, such as the only neuro-oncologist and interventional neuroradiologist.
Culicchia is a member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for International Education in Neurological Surgery and has held leadership positions in the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons/Congress of Neurological Surgeons Joint Section of Cerebrovascular Surgery.
