Andrea Toomer, M.D. says one of the most gratifying aspects of being a physician is watching her patients recover from disabling pain and spinal injuries. As a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation, Dr. Toomer works with patients to restore their function and movement. “It’s not just about life – It’s about quality of life,” she insists.

Dr. Toomer is a New Orleans native and returned home after completing a residency at Carolinas Rehabilitation in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is particularly excited about advances made in the treatment of spasticity, a condition which results from spinal cord injury, stroke, cerebral palsy, dystonia, and other conditions. “Through botox injections, oral medications, and intrathecal baclofen pumps, we are now able to help patients suffering from limited movement due to spasticity.
