Dr. Frank Culicchia discussed brain cancer on WDSU.
The recent death of Senator Ted Kennedy has raised public awareness of brain tumors. Frank Culicchia, M.D. spoke about the symptoms of brain tumors on WDSU-TV’s “On-Call” segment. According to Dr. Culicchia, a neurosurgeon and chairman of the LSU Department of Neurosurgery, brain tumors can cause seizures as well as focal deficits such as progressive paralysis, difficulty with speech or vision. He says these symptoms may occur gradually over a period of weeks or months.
Patients of Culicchia Neurological Clinic benefit from an entire team of neurologists, neurosurgeons, pain and rehabilitation specialists working together in the same office. Our neurosurgeons and neurologists are skilled in the treatment of brain tumors and skull-based tumors, offering the latest in surgery techniques and medical treatment options right here in New Orleans – no need to travel out of town. Patients are able to enjoy the comforts of home while undergoing treatment and that makes a tremendous difference.
Clinic patients may also benefit from the use of the area’s only CyberKnife® Stereotactic Radiosurgery System, which offers non-surgical treatment for patients with tumors and vascular disorders.
