Neurology is the field of medicine concerned with diagnosis and treatment of all categories of disease or impaired function of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, muscles, and autonomic nervous system, as well as the blood vessels that relate to these structures. The neurologist is a consultant to other physicians but also is the principal physician and may render all levels of care commensurate with his/her training. Common conditions treated by a neurologist include: stroke, aneurysm, dementia, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, brain tumors, migraines, head and spinal injuries, vascular malformation of brain and spinal cord.
